Slightly longer than anticipated but
A BIG HELLO
to everyone and it feels good to be back again!
I have to start with an update on my loved ones, you were all so kind with your support and prayers back in July and I'm so pleased to say both my dear dad and mother-in-law have come through their major ops and are making excellent progress, I can't tell you the relief we all feel, it's been an emotional roller-coaster ride for most of this year but at long last we can put these ordeals behind us and concentrate on brighter days!
So am I a happy bunny?
Well, as half of my heart now lies in Bournemouth, NO!
I've dreaded counting the days down on the calendar but the day finally came on 15th September and on that day we took DD to her new life at University ~ a horrible 104 miles and 2 hours drive away :(
I know, you've all done it, gone through it, felt it, BUT you have to admit it's the most emotional time ever and some 4 weeks later, I'm still struggling ~ thank goodness for SKYPE and without our video chats and all the gossip I don't know what I'd do? But you have to stay strong don't you? Keep smiling, keep encouraging them and remind them what a dreadful nag you are by asking if they're eating properly, cleaning their room and keeping the washing up to date!
If ever I needed a pick-me-up then Cath http://stitchinchicken.blogspot.co.uk was the one to do it!
Look at this pretty little cushion that popped through the letterbox last week ~ a complete surprise and a lovely card with such kind words too.
Thank you Cath from the bottom of my heart ~ such perfect timing and as I've said to you I so appreciate your friendship and if you could move nearer that would be great!!!
I bet by now you're asking 'Well, what about some stitching progress?'
and I do actually have some, not a lot but will this do for now . . .
Christmas Patches finally completed ~ WOW! there's a whole lot of backstitching to this one but it's so worth it ~ it literally comes alive as you stitch.
I wondered if anyone would like the Leisure Arts booklet I stitched it from?
It does have some smaller motifs too and are all so lovely and colourful. The booklet is a bit shabby around the edges but perfectly fine for someone else to have the pleasure of using. I don't want anything for it and am happy to send worldwide. If you are interested, let me know in a comment below and should there be more than one person, I'll pick a name and let you know in my next post!
I did start another project straight after finishing Santa but have to admit I'm struggling a bit even though it's about 75% complete! Other than that, I'm a bit of a failure this year and my 2012 Happy Dance list proves this! I've also been completely out of touch with my blogging friends, I just haven't had the time to spare, but hopefully it's full steam ahead now and I look forward to catching up with you all soon ~ am I forgiven?
Thanks for stopping by
HAPPY STITCHING

Oh Jane how could we all not forgive you! So glad to see you back. I have thought of you.
I have yet to experience our oldest leaving home. He turns 18 shortly, university next year. I dread it already. I feel for you! I do.
So glad your dad and MIL are well.
Christmas Patches looks fabulous.
Lovely to have you back - yes, it is an emotional time when they move out but so good at the same time. I love Christmas Patches so please include me as a possible recipient.

I know exactly how you feel. It will lessen slightly I hope, as it did with me. My sons 34 now and I still expect him to call me every couple of weeks. :) Your Christmas Patches is lovely. You did good work. :)
Welcome back, Jane! And what great news to hear that your father and MIL came through their surgeries so well! It is so hard on a mother when her "chicks" fly away--luckily, it is much easier to stay in touch than it used to be...
Adorable little pillow from Cath and your Santa is so charming--love the little gingerbread man peaking out of his pocket :)
Glad to hear everything went well..and I am sure you will get used to dd being away, right up till the time she comes home with all her washing ;-). Lovely stitching, the bunny pillow is just perfect and I love Santa. Def. beginning to feel like Christmas!!

Christmas Patches looks gorgeous :) Congrats sweetie!!

So pleased you are back. I can't tell you how many times I was going to email and then decided against it as I felt you had enough on your plate. I am very happy for you that both relatives pulled through their surgeries. I can't imagine what it is like when a child flies the nest. Your Santa is gorgeous as is the gift from Cath.
So glad to see you back and I'm pleased that your family are doing well.
I am already dreading my DD going off to uni and she is only 13..lol.
Sending you a big (((hug)))
Good to see you back again! Also good to hear things are back on track for you all. I'm sure your DD is missing you as much as you miss her, even if she doesn't say so!
Christmas Patches is gorgegous. You have done a great job stitching him :)
Lovely gift from Cath :)
It is never easy when a chick flys the nest. So glad that you Dad and MIL are recovering well.
YAY! Glad to hear the good news about your family! And--you WILL survive the child away at college! My youngest went to one 900+ miles away, but I went there in spring to bring him home for the summer, and back again, each year! I STILL missed him, but boys are different. My girls--oldest moved away at 19 and has been all over. We are closest now, in miles (about 150+) and that is great! My youngest daughter lives about 6 miles from me! Christmas Patches is absolutely gorgeous! You did a great job, especially all that backstitching. Looks great! Glad to have you back in blogland! Hugs!
So wonderful to see you back girlfriend! So glad your family is doing well. Sure have missed you.
xx

Chantal
Welcome back!! I just recently discovered that I have a copy of Christmas Patches is my stash. I must have purchased the booklet and then never got around to stitching it. Your beautiful stitching has inspired me to get the materials together and stitch it up. Too late for this holiday season (I'm waaay too slow :-)'), but it will be done by next year!
Happy to hear your family is on the mend and doing well!
Awww bless you of course we forgive you it is soooo good to see a post from you again. Look forward to getting a Tilly and Oscar fix soon.

So good to read your post. Glad to hear you parents are doing well. I can only begin to imagine how I'll feel when my boys leave the nest ~ at least technology allows people to stay in touch fairly easy these days.
