I really do feel a complete failure today!
Firstly a big Thank You to those of you that left me a comment on my last post relating to my question of the colour of snow! I really did appreciate you taking the time and it was so surprising at how different each of us regard how snow should look.
The overall winner seemed to be B5200 so why am I feeling so miserable now?
I've tried the B5200 and it's just tooooo white and stark against the other colours used, I've tried the Blanc/White and it just gives the look of grey snow so I've stitched, unpicked, stitched unpicked, stitched and unpicked (funny how stitching an area is so much quicker than unpicking it!) and finally gave in and used the suggested 3865. I had heard from HAED last week and was firmly told that this was the correct colour and was even sent pictures of someone else's progress of this design and blow me if it didn't look a lovely shade of white!
This is my progress so far . . .
The camera has lightened this picture considerably but believe me the snow is still cream! (the top of the Bell Tower is unstitched!) To top it all, the hassle of keep unpicking areas I felt had spoilt the fabric in those areas so I gently washed it to revive it and Hey Presto ~ the fabric's shrunk ~ not too bad but the 3" extra fabby around the design has reduced a fair bit!
I don't know why it isn't doing it for me but I do feel that the stitching should portray the picture shown to promote it and this in no way does?
So it's official ~ after 4 weeks work ~ I give in, feel totally fed up with it and I am a FAILURE.
Good job my dear friend Barb sent me another surprise package this week, I say surprise but I keep forgetting to tell Barb my surname so the packages arrive addressed to Jane, Tilly and Oscar ~ a complete giveaway but does make me laugh!
Lots of bunny goodness
A pretty embossed card, a gorgeous felted heart with bunny button
but just look at this for cuteness, oh I just love it, Barb has added pretty beads down each side which match the thread colours perfectly
and even the back of the cushion has a bunny
I am so so lucky to have Barb as a friend ~ I've told her I now have a 'Barb Shelf' so all her gorgeous stitched goodies can be displayed together ~ thank you Barb, you know how much it means at the moment xxx
Thanks for stopping by
HAPPY STITCHING

When I am in a corner like you, I tend to put the stitching down for a few days, read a book, garden or even cook, and go back when I feel refreshed and look again, like the others I love B520.
It can be so frustrating when a color isn't what we expect. If you are stitching with two threads, have you tried one strand of the bright white mixed with one strand of the other?
What a sweet gift from Barb!! I love how she addresses your package ~ too cute!
I am so sorry for all your frustrations right now with that piece. If you saw the picture of the other stitched one and liked it, then just keep on going!!
What treasures from Barb. How blessed you are to have a "Barb shelf"! ;)
I feel your pain! I'd go with Catherine's suggestion of blended threads.
You may find that once the piece is finished the surrounding areas make the snow look whiter.

That's. good example of colours changing! Very clever.
I am agree with the above friends :)
Sweet gift..
Love for you x
Looks like everyone beat me to the same suggestion, but if you feel like frogging all that snow one more time, a blended needle can work wonders. I very often put two colors on one needle and it makes all the difference in the world!
You are NOT a failure Jane. I am sure if you carry on when it is completed it will look fine. Have faith. It looks great. Gorgeous gift from Barb.
I believe the suggestion of putting it aside for a while and come back to it after makes sense. I have done that in the past and it really does help me!! Good Luck!! Happy stitching!! :) How wonderful of Barb to send you such great bunny wonders!! I love the idea of the beads how she added them on the sides of the design.. May use that one day! :)
Putting it down for a bit helps but I do know that the finished product will look like the picture! I think you've made amazing progress and it looks like the picture. Hopefully it will work out for you!
Such a sweet gift from Barb! Love that little bunny finish! Made especially for you :D
Hugs!
OOh great gifts! They should cheer you! If a piece gives me that much grief, I do one of two things: put it away or throw it away! lately there's been a lot of aerial action around me! ha! Hope you and the white threads make the peace! Hugs!
I am so sorry that design gave you such grief but I think you're right - if you're not enjoying it, let it go. I've tossed more than one project in the trash (after cutting off the fabric I could salvage) and don't feel bad about it. You are not a failure! You're smart to cut your losses send move onto something you'll enjoy! Good luck finding your next FUN project!
ohhh eck with the thread .. two choices .... put aside until feel up to finishing whenever (maybe try blending the two colours)... as it is a lovely design.... or cut your loss's and salvage as much fabbie as can ...
gorgeous wee giftie from Barb too .. funny how things turn up when you are feeling down isn't it :)
thought of you the other day when I saw a wee bunny in a tea cup :) love mouse xxxxx
A failure I do not think so my friend. Hope the bunnies are behaving, did make me smile hay and straw going in all directions. OOh a shelf all to myself what an honour . Glad you liked it sweetie ,hope this week will be better for you.
You are not a failure Jane. You won't be the first to give up on a HAED and I'm sure you won't be the last. However I would keep going with it. As others have said you'd be amazed at how different it looks when you get other colours around it. There were greens in the skin on my first HAED and I nearly gave up but believe me it worked!
Sorry forgot to say gorgeous gift from Barb. She is such a sweetie.
I think everyone encounter that kind of situation with the thread, had it so many times though with small designs...
Lovely gifts from Barb!!
Your not a failure.. please don't say that..
You had big bad luck with your threads..
And for your stitching,, 6 montsh ago I lost my mojo for weeks to... But when you get it back, you will enjoy it so much..
So put away those needles, go, work in your graden take long walks, do other thingsm then at opne point you will miss you needles, get them, and the will be on fitre again
