ONE OVER ONE = NOT MUCH FUN!

After a week of struggling with my eyesight, frogging, knots, burning the midnight oil and tearing my hair out I've come to the conclusion that for me 'one over one = not much fun'!

Bunny Gingham is complete but I HATED stitching it and I really, really struggled!
I had never stitched' one over one' before and this turned out to be real proof that I need to go back to the Opticians for probably a stronger lens for close-up work.
I miscounted so many times and kept forgetting that the squares were 12 holes each and not 10, my single strand of GAST just kept knotting and the chart niggled at me that the individual letters were not central in each gingham square so silly me decided to centre them up causing me even more problems as I just couldn't see the holes!
Perhaps life would have been easier if my hunt for my magnifying glass that attaches to my floor-standing daylight lamp had been successful but it seems to have hidden itself somewhere up in the attic resulting in me having to stitch with one hand and hold a tiny brass magnifying glass with the other  . . . . .

OK, so the finished piece is quite cute and yes! OK I do quite like it but a stripey bunny???????

Tilly's not too impressed either, me staying up until gone midnight frogging disturbed sleepy time in bunny land and I think she was worried that a lack of sleep might turn her stripey too!!!

I really admire all of you that stitch such tiny count projects, well done you, but for me it's back to normal (and sanity) and 2 over 2 on 28count please!

BIG day on Friday, don't know how I had missed it or not remembered before but it's the big stitching and craft show up in London and as DD has a free day on Friday we're heading up to fill our boots!  Wish me luck, if it's anything like last year I shall be trodden on, bashed into with handbags, even trollies, and
look like I've been 10 rounds in the fighting ring.

Tilly and I both thank you for your lovely comments on our last post and so happy to hear you liked our video

KEEP WELL AND HAPPY STITCHING

You did a great job on the bunny. I have never tried stitching on a plaid linen, I wonder if that is distracting while you are stitchig.

It looks great Jane. I am like you - 1 over 1, not much fun.

Over one is not the easiest and I can not do it without magnification. I think your striped bunny looks just fine. It's a really cute finish!

Tilly is adorable!

You may have had a lot of trouble with this finish, but it looks just darling, Jane!

I hope you have a wonderful time at the stitching and craft show in London--sounds like such fun :)

I think you have done a wonderful job - perhaps bunny has just been groomed and that is why he is stripey. Seriously overdyed thread quite often stitches up that way and personally I like it!
Enjoy London

I had the same problem with seeing my work, I popped to Boots and brought a pair of glasses with 3 1/2 time magnifying power. They are brilliant and much better than a seperate glass, they do not move or slip and they cost under £20.

I know you were pulling your hair out over this but what a lovely finish! I am somewhat ambivalent about over one. Don't mind it in small amounts and have also tried doing it a number of years ago on that type of gingham fabric and gave up in the end! So, I can appreciate what work went into it. Enjoy London! The show will come here next month but very few of the companies make the trip here so it tends to be much smaller.

Despite not liking it, you have done a marevellous job it is a really cute design and I love the fabric you have used. I have only done a little 1 over 1 and I would only do a little at a time, you really do have to concentrate.

That is lovely Jane, sorry I think I am in the minority here I love stitching over one. Frogging over one is not fun though. AWWWWW Tilly is just so adorable and looks as if she is breathing a sigh of relief. Look forward to seeing your goodies , enjoy.

The gingham bunny looks great!! She's not striped, she's agouti like Tilly and Biff. Have a great trip this weekend! I can't believe how BIG Tilly has gotten!

It's such a cute finish but I'm sorry that you struggled so much with it. I'm not a big fan of over one myself.
Hope you have lots of fun at the craft show and add a few goodies to your stash!

ROFLOL I loved hearing you b**** on this post...makes me feel so glad I'm not alone! I don't mind stitching 1-1, until there is frogging to do. Which there usually is!

Your finish looks great! It's fun to hear how the uncentered letters bothered you. Is that a symptom of "stitcher's OCD" I wonder?

A tip: I always use a product called Thread Heaven when I stitch with overdyed cotton. It really reduces the tangles and knots that always appear!
