A BIRD OF HAPPINESS . . . .

I won't start this post with the words 'Good Afternoon' as the weather here is foul ~ strong gales and continual driving rain since yesterday hence I have spent the whole day indoors with the lights on to see !!!

So I think the words 'Happy Dance' would be more appropriate . . . .
I have just finished another item for http://pumpkinpatchandcobreastfund.blogspot.com/ silent auction which will take place later in the year.  My other stitch for this very worthy cause was bunnies (no shock there!) and keeping with a wildlife theme this time I chose this little birdie and finished him (or her) as an ornament . . . .

I think this is such a pretty design by Brooke's Books Publishing and is actually from their set of 12 'Bride's Tree Heirloom' ornaments, this is number 5 and is called 'Happiness'.
I've stitched him (yes, I've decided it's a him) on 28~count Sand Carolina Linen with the listed  DMC conversions, added small beads for the flowers and a silver 'made with love' charm at the bottom.  The backing fabric is a pale pink and white dot shown in the piccie above.

This is the chart I used . . . .

and if anyone is interested in also stitching it then I am happy to send it on (worldwide!) ~ just leave a comment on this post and should there be more than one interest, I will get Tilly and Oscar to pick a name next week!

That's if the pair of them ever decide to stop snoozing . . .

Oh! what a life!

My other W.I.P. (Sweet Little Berries)  is coming along a treat and I hope this week will see a finish.
I'm saving stitching the strawberries until last as I know the lovely rich red they are stitched in will give it the WOW factor . . .

Tomorrow DH and I are taking DD to Portsmouth to have a look at the Univeristy there ~ it's offering a course she's very interested in and although it's a year away before she begins Uni, applications have to be in by middle-October.  I feel guilty, as I suppose like all Mums, I'm being selfish and don't want her to be away from home but as this is a 3year course and some 2 hours away it will mean exactly that but hey! I know we all have to go through it and it's not as if it's the other side of the world (although I'm sure it will feel like it!)

Thanks for stopping by and a big hello and welcome to my new followers
HAPPY STITCHING

Jane,
What a cute finish! I love everything about it. You added some extra love. Awesome!

I love your bunnies. They are adorable. Your WIP is looking great. I can't wait to see it completed.

Your not selfish as a mom. We all love our children and hate to see them go. You know she loves you just the same so it is okay. (((Hugs)))

I would love to be in the draw for your pattern. Is the U.S. eligible?

Hope the weather starts to get better soon.

OH that is such a pretty ornament and is sure to fetch lots of $ for the fund. I need to get cracking on my ornament - have the pattern decided, just need to do it. Love your WIP too. Have fun on your trip - it is difficult to think of them going but it does get easier.

That pattern is on my wish list.
Gald to see Tilly and Oscar getting along.
I know it will be hard when your daughter leaves. I have had to say goodbye to two kids.

What a sweet finish Jane and I do like your LHN WIP. Hope you have a good visit to Portsmouth. Yes, it is sad to see them leave but then it's also nice to see them branching out in life and 2 hours away isn't too bad. She can easily come home for a weekend whenever she feels like it. Cute pic of Tilly and Oscar!

I love your ornament Jane. It is so sweet. I'd love to be in with a chance to win the chart please.

Your LHN is coming along really well.

I hope the visit to Portsmouth goes OK. My DD is only about 3/4 hour away when she's at uni and it feels like far enough lol!

Sweet photo of Tilly and Oscar.

What a darling finish, Jane--I've never seen that one before. I still have to stitch mine for Pumpkin's auction, too--haven't even selected a chart yet so I need to get busy. I would love to enter your drawing for it :)

It's never too early to start looking at universities--we put it off too long for my oldest son and had to rush a decision. Luckily, it worked out in the end, but we should have planned ahead... Hope she (and you!) like the looks of it.

The bird ornament is gorgeous. I would love to stitch it too so please enter my in your giveaway for the chart :) I have my fingers and toes crossed!!!!
I hope your trip to look at the university went well. My daughter just started Year 11 so in a couple of years I am sure I will be having the same thoughts as you. I am hoping she will go to York or Leeds so she will not be too far away but we'll just have to wait and see.
